Solidification of liquid hospital waste:
Hospital liquid waste should be treated differently, minimizing cross-contamination as much as possible, ensuring safety for employees, and in all their surroundings, from handling, transportation to the shelter and to their final destination. Solidification is essential to minimize risks and also use low-cost containers, in addition to reducing odor.
In places such as: reception, beds, emergencies, liquid spills of feces, blood, urine, vomiting may occur. And one way to contain liquid waste is to immobilize the contaminant by physical immobilization using the solidification technique, that is, by spraying Ultra Solid® SSI, being discarded in the infective bag, eliminating the use of cloths / papers to remove the first soils.
Pack the Ultra Solid® Capsule in the suction flasks of the surgical blocks so that instantaneous solidification of the body fluids drained during the surgical procedure occurs. Just use the amount of capsules proportional to the amount of fluid aspirated, to ensure safety in case of accidents, such as the bottle falling and / or breaking. Accidents like these can result in wasted time, labor and unforeseen costs for the hospital. With the Ultra Solid® Capsule, hygiene will become much faster and with less expense of cleaning products and H / H (hospital hospitality).
Residual liquids (medicines) that are discarded in rigid plastic boxes or cardboard boxes, should be solidified, because if accidents occur with falls, there may be leaks, and with solidification using the Ultra Solid® Sachê (single dose, 15 g solidifies approximately 1 liter) in addition to decreasing the risk of contamination, it decreases odor. The Ultra Solid® Sachê must be opened and spray the solidifying powder inside the boxes, before or after they are used.
The chemotherapeutic, psychotropic, solidified liquid waste brings savings, safety and tranquility during handling, transport and storage until final disposal.
In addition to these cases mentioned above, there are also residues containing heavy metals; laboratory reagents, effluents from automated equipment used in clinical analysis, etc., which should also be solidified to minimize risks of accidents and contamination.
Organic residues (food) that are packed in black bags and placed in containers for collection by specialized companies, generate leachate and therefore the use of the Ultra Solid® Sachê or Ultra Solid® SSI solidifier, reduces the odor and the proliferation of vectors, rodents.
During the disposal of sharps, usually in cardboard boxes, small amounts of liquids are also discarded, which, when solidified, prevent their rupture. In this case, the Ultra Solid® Sachê or Ultra Solid® SSI solidifier can be used by spraying the solidifying powder inside the boxes, before being used.
Cleaning in Basement of Ships with Coal or Similar
As it is a flammable product, coal, in its transportation, needs to be moistened in order to avoid ignition. Thus, after arrival at the port it is unloaded. The puddles of coal dust + water are left at the end of the operation. So correct disposal is necessary.
This waste was previously discarded for the treatment of contaminated liquids, pumped into water trucks. This operation is time consuming and has a high cost. An alternative way to reduce these costs and increase cleaning productivity on ships is to use the Ultra Solid® solidifier. As a result, the product is 100% reused.
In the video above, the backhoe serves to homogenize the sludge, and increases the performance of Ultra Solid®. This example can also be used in other types of waste.
